Climbing mountain — Islamic interpretation
Dream interpretation
A mountain in a dream represents a great and a noble man who possesses a strong and a commanding voice, and who commands good administration of his affairs. It also can be interpreted as a son, a difficult and austere woman, or a businessman. If the mountain is rounded or flat in the dream, it means difficulties or distress. A mountain in a dream also could mean achieving one's goal, a journey, or fulfilling a promise. If the mountain is standing distinct from other mountains in the dream, the above meanings become stronger.
If the mountain has pasture and stores a source of water, and if it is used as a permanent guarding post, then it represents a pious ruler. However, if it stores no water, and if no pasture grows therein, it represents a tyrant and a ruler who is an atheist, for in that case it is dead and does not glorify God Almighty, nor can people benefit from it.
A mountain that stands high is alive, but a crumbling mountain which has turned into a pile of rocks is dead. If a person sees himself climbing an erect mountain, eating from its plants and drinking from its water, and if he qualifies to govern, it means that he will be appointed to a governing post under the auspices of a stringent ruler, though his subjects do receive benefits from his government. The size of benefits the governor will acquire is equal to the amount of food and water he consumed in the dream. If the person is a businessman, then a mountain in the dream represents profit and a good reputation.
If climbing the mountain is easy, then there is no particular benefit in that ascent, for there is no true benefit without hardship. If at the end of the ascent one gives thanks to God, then he will become a just ruler. If one calls the prayer (adhan) or performs the prayer at the summit of the mountain, then he will be appointed to govern. If one sees himself descending from the mountain, it means a rank, a loss in business, or regret.
If one is in the company of his king and his soldiers in the dream, it means the company of God and His angels, so he will be victorious, will win his war, defeat his enemy, or renounce his attachment to this world. If climbing the mountain is arduous, then descending represents deliverance. If the ascent means attaining a higher station, then the descent represents the loss of one's rank.
If one sees himself climbing a mountain and, upon reaching a certain height, can neither climb higher nor descend, it means his death at a young age. If one falls from a mountain, it means falling into sin. If he falls and breaks his leg, it means being humiliated by his superiors.
Seeing a mountain ablaze with fire in a dream means the death of a dangerous man. Relying upon a mountain means friendship with someone in authority. Living in the shade of a mountain means earning one's livelihood from such a person and living in happiness. Carrying a mountain means taking on the business responsibility of a prominent merchant, which will be heavy for him.
If the mountain is luminous with light, then the responsibility will be light. If a mountain descends from the sky in the dream, then the local ruler will come to that place. If a mountain rises into the sky, then the ruler of that city will be dismissed.
Throwing stones from the summit of a mountain means humiliating others. If the mountain is beautifully adorned, it means greater authority. Seeing a mountain from afar means a journey. If one sees an earthquake striking a mountain in a dream, it means a calamity for that land or country.
If a wicked person sees a mountain in a dream, it means suffering the punishment of his sins. Swallowing a mountain means controlling cruel and powerful men. Climbing a mountain until one reaches a level surface means serving orphans or caring for the sick.
Entering a cave inside a mountain means safety. The good or evil effect of a mountain in a dream depends on its fertility or barrenness. Climbing a mountain and enjoying its plants and sweet fresh water means guarding one's chastity, or learning a knowledge or a trade that will fulfill one's needs.
Climbing a mountain by a straight path means dealing with matters as they are. If one sees the mountains advancing along with him, it means war or great conflict among people.
Falling from the summit of a mountain among beasts, crows, vultures, mammals, mud, filth, or rats means abstaining from sin, if one can escape from there and go to a mosque to pray, or go to a garden to rest.
If a mountain crumbles and turns into ashes or dust, it means losing one's devotion and ruining one's life.
