Teeth Dream Meaning

Dreaming of teeth usually means you are testing your own confidence: healthy teeth show your self-trust is intact, and broken or loose teeth show it is under strain. Teeth are the first thing people see when you smile, and you also need them to bite, so dream teeth raise two questions. How do others see you, and do you have the strength to handle a hard situation? Bengali has an idiom for each side. Swallowing your anger and putting up with something is called pressing your teeth together, much like gritting your teeth in English, and a sharp comeback is called a "tooth-breaking reply." Notice also whether someone was looking at your teeth or you were alone with a mirror. The first is a worry about how others judge you, and the second is you taking stock of yourself.

• Teeth breaking

A broken tooth means you took a blow exactly where you thought you were strong, such as harsh criticism of your work or a hurtful remark from someone close. If the tooth broke while you were biting something hard, ask which responsibility you are handling with more force than you have.

• Loose teeth

A loose tooth stands for something you have not lost yet but cannot hold as firmly as before, like a shaky job or a relationship that is drifting away. If you keep pushing the tooth with your tongue, the worry will not leave your mind.

• Teeth falling out

This is the most familiar teeth dream, and behind it there is usually a fear of losing control. Folk belief says it foretells the death of someone close, but there is no evidence for this.

• Bleeding teeth or gums

Blood from your teeth or gums is a picture of pain that nobody else sees but that weakens you from within, such as swallowing your own words again and again to keep others happy. If you taste blood in your mouth, think about which thing you said is still nagging at you.

• Cavities in your teeth

A tooth eaten away by decay means a neglected problem is quietly growing, like work you keep putting off or a grievance you have never voiced. If the tooth looks fine on the outside but the decay shows inside, the matter is not as small as you think.

• Having a tooth pulled

Getting a tooth pulled at the dentist means you have privately decided to remove something that has hurt you for a long time, such as a harmful relationship or habit. If you feel more relief than pain once it is out, the decision feels right to you, even though letting go is hard.

• Brushing your teeth

Brushing your teeth is a dream about getting yourself ready, and it usually comes before an occasion such as a job interview or a family meeting to arrange a marriage. If your teeth look dirtier the more you scrub, you cannot wipe the stain of an old mistake from your mind.

• New teeth growing in

A new tooth coming in as an adult means lost confidence is returning, especially after you have recovered from a setback. If you feel the familiar ache of teething, settling into this new chapter is still a little painful.

• Shiny white teeth

Healthy, gleaming white teeth mean you are happy with yourself and do not hold back from smiling openly. But if the teeth look unnaturally white, even fake, ask if you are hiding your real face while dressing up to please others.

• Someone else's teeth

Seeing another person's teeth broken or loose shows your worry about that person, such as an elderly parent's health or a friend going through a bad time. If someone bares their teeth at you, ask if you sense hidden anger in the way they treat you in waking life.

When you wake up, recall whether you felt shame or fear in the dream, then compare it with where you have felt small lately, or what you are afraid of losing. Many people have repeated teeth dreams during big changes such as a new job or a baby on the way. And if you have real tooth pain, or you grind your teeth in your sleep, that physical discomfort also finds its way into the dream.
