Crossing sea — Islamic interpretation

Crossing sea

Dream interpretation

The presence of an ocean in a dream represents a prison where sea creatures are incarcerated. It means losses, fear, despair, limitless knowledge, a city without walls, or the world with its trials and wonders. An ocean or a sea in a dream also represents a strong ruler who is just, compassionate toward his subjects, and whom people revere, have access to, and seek for their daily needs.

If a businessman sees an ocean in a dream, it represents his merchandise. As for a worker or an apprentice, the ocean represents his veteran teacher or master. If one sees the ocean in a dream, it means that he will succeed in his goals. If one sees himself entering into the ocean, it means that he will enter before a ruler, or stand before someone in authority. If one sees himself sitting or lounging at the seashore, it means that he will work for such a person or a ruler, though he will be observing caution and diplomacy.

If one sees himself drinking the entire water of the sea, with no one seeing him except the king, it means that he will reign and live a long life. Drinking any portion thereof means earnings equal to what he takes in. If one sees himself drinking from it to quench his thirst, it represents riches, strength and longevity. If he wishes to drink some of its water, it means that he seeks to work for such a powerful person or a ruler.

If he pours seawater into a vessel, it means prosperity, or that he will receive a great gift from God which will grant him a high rank and wealth; however, his standing will last longer than his money. Drinking seawater means acquiring knowledge and adopting proper conduct.

Crossing the sea in a dream means gaining wealth. If powerful waves bring seawater into his path without causing any harm, it means that a ruler or a great man will enter or visit that place. Bathing in seawater means repenting from sin.

Seeing the sea from afar means that calamity, temptation and trials are coming to his community. If one sees the seawater receding, so that he can see the edges of the earth, it means the decline of his authority and control, or that God's wrath has descended upon that place. This calamity may come through his own government, through economic crisis, drought, or through his enemies.

Standing in seawater means attaining something he was not seeking. Walking in the air above the seawater means his good intention, clarity, faith and certainty. If a sick person sees himself performing ablution with seawater, it means that he will recover from his illness, or it may mean the repayment of his debts and release from worldly pressures.
